Bodies for Liberation: Neuroqueering the World to Come

a support group for neurodiverse / expansive identified and questioning folks

Plant kin give us many mirrors to see our neurodivergence as a gift.

They guide us in the co-creation of our world.

Rhizomic plants are a beautiful example of hyperneuroconnectivity and resilience.

Flowers opening to the sun is a perfect example of sensory responsiveness.

A seed is the epitome of monotropism; a complete focus on one thing:

bringing forth new life.

We have the capacity to embody our neurodiversity with the same ease we love the sunrays, petals, moss and soil.

It’s our natural state.

Bodies of Liberation is a five-session container, a place to practice feeling supported and cared for by a small group (no more than 5 members) of neuroexpansive kin and plant allies. We will use somatic practices, ritual and the magic of the plant world to learn to see the ways our gifts are needed for the revolution and the world to come.

Since the beginning of colonialism, the unique magic of neuroexpansiveness has been pathologized, invisibilized, ignored, isolated, misunderstood, exoticized and gaslit. Through these struggles, some of us may find it difficult to accept and love our neurodiverse selves. Yet, as we are learning, grappling with, sensing into and intuiting, our neuroexpansivity offers a particular set of gifts that allows us to move through the world with creativity, curiosity, and connectivity. It always has, white supremacy and capitalism have systematically kept us from our bodies' innate knowledge. Before colonialism and still in many Indigenous cultures, neurodiversity is valued and integrated in society.

In this group, we will learn with the more than human realm to reframe our pathologized traits as needed medicine in our world. As we attune to the plants — ancestors here on earth — we learn from their wisdom: embracing all of who we are in our fullness. Together with the plants we will practice for the sake of deepening our somatic safety and capacity. As we build more sense of sovereignty in our own bodies, we have more room to decide where to stretch, risk-take, and choice-make. And we reclaim what’s been taken from us by empire.

There is a potency and necessity to doing this work in a small group. So many of us are feeling isolated, attempting deep healing work on our own. For those of us who have social trauma, this unique setting provides an intentional container for relationship building and care that is more responsive to our access needs.

If you are yearning for support as a neuroexpansive person, wanting to be in community with other neuroqueer folks, build relationships with the plant world and learn somatic practices to build greater capacity for imagination, relationality, and participating in the revolution, we welcome you! Please join us.

In this group we will

  • Learn somatic practices using physical movements and breath to support aligning our actions with our values (all practices have adaptations for different points of access, everything we do together is optional).

  • Dialogue journal and meditate with plants and ancestors to lean back into and cultivate ancestral support.

  • Tune in to the natural intelligence of plants and our own bodies by making and taking plant material via tea, essence, tincture, salve and powder.

  • Practice consent, deepen self-acceptance, and uplift your spiritual experience.

  • Get curious about our natural ability to heal, transform, take risks and move into action towards our individual and collective desires.

  • Engage in earth-based ritual to process grief, celebrate life and build our capacity to feel more: both discomfort and pleasure for the sake of understanding ourselves more, revealing our true longings, deepening relationships, greater creative expression and clarifying our sense of purpose.

  • Identify and celebrate our neuroqueer gifts as needed medicine for the revolution and the world we are collectively dreaming into.

You definitely don’t have to be diagnosed as neurodiverse, or sure you are neurodiverse to be in this group. It’s a safe place to learn more and if you are questioning if you are neurodiverse or not, you can participate and be in a process of understanding.

We will get to know three plants during our time together. Upon registration you will receive a box of mystery plant medicines. Why are they a surprise? This invites an open-heartedness and sense of exploration; a chance to be immersed in the embodied experience of discovery, and to meet the plant on a soul-level initially. We aren’t getting to know each other or the plants in the conventional capitalist system. We are getting to know each other's essences
