As the cathedral in time begins, shabbat, we will gather for blessings, a shared meal and intention setting for mikveh. Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo and kohenet (Hebrew priestess) Rebekah Erev will lead our community of dreamers in setting individual and collective intentions for a mikveh in the Pacific ocean the next morning. We’ll make a piece of collective art with a shared vision for liberation. Please bring a journal and a physical object that needs a cleansing, to be transformed. Perhaps a rock, a photograph, a book or utensil.
The Queer Mikveh Project is an in process documentary film and art practice. The film follows radical artists and clergy people around North America who incorporate themes of mikveh into work to celebrate, liberate, and center queer imagination. The art practice sets out to create transformative queer mikveh experiences drawing on the wisdom of ancient theology and modern incarnations of queerness to heal the body/earth.

Additionally, we are offering a $40 ticket with a copy of the Queer Mikveh Project zine featuring artwork by Nikki Green and a $100 ticket with a Queer Mikveh towel specially designed by Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo. These donations will go toward the development and production of the Queer Mikveh Project documentary film.
36% of profits raised from this event will be donated to support Tongva and indigenous solidarity work in the Los Angeles area.
