Shekinah please demilitarize our borders (and everywhere), stop chemical warfare on people seeking refuge, and reunite children with their families! Dreaming of a day where there are no borders and the Kumeyaay people decide how this area of the world should be governed, when we have welcome banners, banquets of food, and people who’s job it is to welcome each person who comes- like they have a personal assistant to help them find everything they need in their new home and introduce them to the loving community that awaits them. Things like: getting to know the plants and animals of the new place, someone who knows their native language, healthcare support, new community introductions, and on and on! .

Hugs and deep respect to everyone who can’t come out because of violence, anyone queer and in prison, who risks their life everyday to be themselves, to nb POC and black trans women, those who came out at 70 as trans, anyone who is coming out as intersex and working for visibility in the queer Community, for who coming out was the hardest thing they ever did and to all the baby homos still to be born. Thank u Queer ancestors for paving the way for me to be a part of the best community on the fucking earth plane!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO GRATEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #nationalcomingoutday

Happy Indigenous People’s Day! Thinking about places my feet touched the earth this year and the people’s of those lands. My body and heart are filled with mountains of gratitude for the stewarding, keeping of truths, resilency, modeling of resistance and beauty these people have given me. I owe them my life. I am grateful to live on Turtle Island and remember I am an uninvited visitor, a settler.

Today I read some of my favorite Native writers: Gail Tremblay (who I have been fortunate to learn from directly), Joy Harjo and Leslie Marmon Silko (whose work literally changed my life).

I looked at and appreciated my friends art who are Native artists and said prayers for their fortunes. They are geniuses and you would be bananas not to check them out and receive their gifts. As a Jew in diaspora I sang to the cedar and rosemary, plants us Jews call familiars and also gave thanks to the wisdom of the earth they grew from: dark, dank, nutrient dense soil.

May every day be Indigenous People’s Day, may we see a turning in our lifetimes and may we all participate in that turning.

Don’t just learn the names of the people whose land you live on, learn the broken treaties. These are histories that we can remember and work to make different with our lives. I haven’t posted in 2 months and my life has basically been like this: snakes mating ie. Lots of transformation, growth and some good ol’ gay sex (there’s a plug for getting off social media). I will tell you that much. Life without social media is quite pleasant. I am not a big “life documenter,” - like posting regularly is extremely time consuming for me. And looking at the fotos I’ve taken the last couple months without social media in mind gets me thinking it’s def not my natural forte. I have research fotos of lots of snakes, bad portraits of plants I’ve been taken by, weird videos of my nephews feet, and pictures of classic cars I stalk wishing I could buy them for my dad. But I’m feeling the love writing this and cruising your pages. Good to see you in 2D bb’s. Maybe I’m easing my way back in. #shabbatshalom
